Viral Testimonial Generator

Viral Testimonial Generator is a powerful business app designed to combine the power of Facebook with the power of customer testimonials. By automatically taking positive customer testimonials and placing them on your WordPress website, Facebook page, AND you customer’s Facebook page, you maximize the power of a testimonial to the benefit of your business!

  • You MUST have a WordPress website for it to post to your website or to your Facebook page
  • There is a three question survey at the beginning of the app to help filter out unhappy customers and negative comments. However, that doesn’t mean that this app will only publish positive comments. It will publish anything the customer writes. You can, of course, later delete it from your website and your Facebook page, but we recommend you leave it on your website and instead post a comment responding to the negative comment. It’s unrealistic to think that any business will always have 100% happy customers. Negative comments are okay in moderation and provide validation to potential future customers that you aren’t deleting the bad ones.
  • If your customer decides to post their comment to his or her Facebook page, the app will ask them to log in. It WILL NOT keep them logged in. No one else will be able to access his or her Facebook page after they login via the app.
  • Posting comments to YOUR Facebook page is completely controlled by plugins on your WordPress website. There are no settings in Viral Testimonial Generator for your Facebook page. (See Below for more information about WordPress plugins that will work)
After downloading Viral Testimonial Generator, you will need to set up the web settings to ensure it works properly with your WordPress website (at this time, Viral Testimonial Generator will ONLY post testimonials to your website if you are using a hosted WordPress website. For more information about WordPress, visit wordpress.org)

To ensure you get the most out of Viral Testimonial Generator, we have a few tips and recommendations.

WordPress:

  • Be sure you are using the latest version of WordPress and an updated theme. Some themes have a problem with remote uploading of pictures. While the app will still work, the pictures will not display.
  • Ensure you have a plugin that will automatically publish your blog posts to your Facebook page. (We use Network Publisher from Links Alpha, but have also used Socialite, Wordbooker, and a host of others. Any plugin that allows you to autopost new blog posts to Facebook will work).
  • Create a user just for this app. We recommend calling this user Happy Customer or something similar.
  • Create a category called Testimonials and add that category to your menu bar. This will ensure all your testimonials are displayed as soon as they are written. Here’s how to do it:
    • To create a new category:
      • Login to your WordPress site as an Administrator
      • On the left hand site, under Posts, click Categories
      • Under “Add New Category”, enter the Name Testimonials
      • Scroll down and click Add New Category
    • To add this category to your menu bar (WordPress version 3.2 and late:
      • Under Appearance, click Menus
      • Scroll down and under Categories, check the box next to “Testimonials”
      • Click Add to Menu
      • Click Save Menu

In Your Office:

Viral Testimonial Generator works best when you present it to customers, clients, or patients while they are still excited about their experience with you and before they leave your place of business

  • We recommend you hand the iPad to the client and walk them through the app.
  • Many people will be unsure of what to write. Suggest to them that they keep it short and simple. Something like “I just had a great experience at [Your Business Name]! If you haven’t been there, I recommend you check it out!”
  • Have staff make a habit of asking people if they wouldn’t mind taking a quick, three question survey. If you don’t ask, no one will give you a testimonial!
  • Don’t force people to post it to their Facebook page. Not everyone will want to share their experience on Facebook. That’s okay. The majority will be more than happy to oblige.
